General information on higher education
Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of two entities: the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) including its ten cantons and Republika Srpska (RS). Brčko District (BD) has been further established as a separate administrative unit under the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The competence over higher education lies with RS, the ten cantons of FBIH and BD.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has two separate evaluation processes, licensing (determining the fulfilment of minimum standards for establishing HEIs and study programmes) and accreditation at programme and institutional level (periodic external evaluation activity to check compliance with a number of set standards and criteria).
