Report summary
The study program is well designed and enables students to acquire a broad range of competences in wood science, digitalization, sustainability, and business. Emphasis is placed on practical training and mobility, though internal elective options are limited. The content aligns with the program’s objectives, although innovation and sustainability are less emphasized. Most literature is in foreign languages. The program ensures strong links to practice and research and meets quality standards. The program integrates fundamental and applied knowledge in wood science, sustainability, and digitalization, while following developmental trends. It includes interdisciplinary content and practical training, strengthening professional and research orientation. Course content is up-to-date and meaningfully aligned with program goals. The program is closely connected with its environment, built on cooperation with domestic and international partners from science, industry, and the profession. A labor market analysis confirms graduates’ employability. Practical training is mandatory and well organized at home and abroad, with project involvement and mentoring. Strong support from companies, research institutions, and international networks further enhances its relevance and quality. The program is designed in line with its content, objectives, and quality standards. It foresees a wide range of modern teaching methods, full-time study with a mobility window, and a blended final seminar. Academic staff are adequate and scientifically competent, with some subject leaders achieving excellent research results. The faculty provides stateof-the-art research and teaching equipment, modern laboratories, and 24/7 library access. Accessibility for students with mobility impairments remains partly problematic but renovations are underway and the faculty has committed to completing it by the end of 2025. . Admission, progression, and completion requirements are defined, transparent, and in line with higher education practice (42 ECTS for progression, exceptional enrollment under justified reasons, the possibility of repeating or accelerated progression). Assessment methods are regulated by faculty rules and curricula and supported by the VIS/ŠIS system. The program comprises 180 ECTS, includes a mobility window and final seminar, and awards the title “BSc Engineer of Wood Science (VS).” -
