    Report summary

    The group of experts prepared a comprehensive assessment of the situation based on an analysis of the documentation provided, a two-day visit, and discussions with various stakeholders involved in implementing the Master's programme in Geography. It was found that the programme receives adequate and continuous attention in monitoring, updating and development, involving all key stakeholders at the department, faculty and university levels. Self-evaluation procedures are in place at all relevant levels. They are based on systematic data collection, regular analysis and reporting, which enables the identification of improvement needs and their integration into the programme implementation. It is worth highlighting the action plan with clearly defined measures that have been implemented and are planned. The quality of programme implementation is also reflected in the good organisation of practical training, the regular incorporation of new scientific findings into individual subjects and teaching methods that include fieldwork. After the update, the programme remains comprehensive in terms of content, with a clear link between the curriculum, syllabus and the objectives and competencies developed by the programme. Students are provided with high-quality preparation for entering the labour market, including involvement in projects and organising career events. Good cooperation with external stakeholders also contributes to this, although it would be helpful to strengthen it further. Communication between students and teaching staff is rated very good, enabling student involvement in evaluation processes. The implementation of the study program is adapted to different groups of students, including students with special needs and mobility students, which indicates a high level of inclusive and flexible teaching approach. The staffing structure of programme leaders and implementers is assessed positively. However, the excessive workload of individual assistants in implementing many courses remains challenging. In this regard, it is recommended to continue reducing the workload and, where possible, increasing staffing levels. There is also a need for more practical content in all areas of the programme and for more equal involvement of all students in scientific and professional projects. It is recommended to continue updating the subject literature in the curricula and promoting the programme more widely. The department representatives responded positively and constructively to the findings during the discussions. It is commendable that some improvements are already being planned or implemented, which was not evident from the SEP for the period 2019-2022. The expert group concluded that the Master's programme in Geography, including its specialisations, meets all key quality standards, that the quality assurance system is functioning, and that the quality cycle is complete.

Verifiable Credentials

A Verifiable Credential (VC) is a digitally-signed and thus tamper-evident document containing information on a subject (e.g. personal information, entitlements of an individual, degrees held by an individual or accreditation of a higher education institution). Quality assurance results recorded in DEQAR can be downloaded as W3C-compatible Verifiable Credentials.

Currently, two types of credentials can be issued:

EBSI Verifiable Accreditations (VA) can be used by a higher education institution in the context of the EBSI Early Adopters programme.

  • The VA allows the institution to prove its external quality assurance on the Trusted Issuer Registry (TIR). EBSI VAs are only issued for external quality assurance results with an official status in a national system (“part of obligatory EQA system”).
  • At present, the higher education institution’s EBSI DID needs to be communicated to EQAR and recorded in DEQAR manually at the moment. If you are a higher education institution participating in EBSI, please contact us to register your DID.
  • EBSI VAs are issued by EQAR under its DID did:ebsi:zk4bhCepWSYp9RhZkRPiwUL.

DEQAR Format Verifiable Credentials primarily serve as a proof of concept and public demonstrator currently.

  • DEQAR Format VCs are based on the plain W3C Recommendation and our own data model. While they closely follow the EBSI Schema, no EBSI-specific or EU-specific elements or data types are used.
  • The higher education institution is identified by its DEQAR URI in this case.
  • DEQAR Format VCs are issued by EQAR under its DID did:web:data.deqar.eu.
