Outcomes Rijeka Register Committee meeting

Register Committee (RC) members gathered in Rijeka (Croatia) on 29-30 June for the 39th RC meeting, hosted by the University of Rijeka.

The Committee reviewed and considered several applications, substantive change reports and eligibility applications. The Committee found the following agencies operating in substantial compliance with the ESG:

The Register Committee discussed and took note (either during, before or after the RC meeting) of the following reported substantive changes:

  • ACCUA (successor of AAC-DEVA) –  Agency for Scientific and University Quality of Andalusia
    Following a decree-law issued by the Andalusian government, the Agency for Scientific and University Quality of Andalusia (ACCUA) has become the legal successor of the Andalusian Agency of Knowledge, Directorate for Evaluation and Accreditation (AAC-DEVA). ACCUA started operating on 1 March 2023.
  • A3ES – Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education (Portugal)
    A3ES has implemented the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes since May 2023.
  • evalag – Evaluation Agency Baden-Württemberg (Germany)
    Evalag introduced five new activities, four of which are applicable only to Baden-Württemberg and the fifth is the accreditation of study programmes pursuant to HEdA and Swiss Health Professions Act (GesBG/LPSan). Evalag also made two organisational changes (a new body within the agency and a change within the Foundation Board).
  • HCERES – High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (France)
    HCERES has implemented the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes and has already completed two procedures.
  • Madri+d – Fundación para el Conocimiento Madrimasd
    The agency introduced two new activities. The CUALIFAM programme is aimed at programmes offered by business schools, performed in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Business Schools. The SOFIA programme is an activity based on the agency’s already existing criteria, but focused on reviewing universities beyond the European Higher Education Area.
  • QAA – Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education(UK)
    As a result of the termination of its contract with the Office for Students, QAA’s activities, carried out in England, “Quality and Standards Review (QSR)” and Degree Awarding Powers (DAP) scrutiny have ended as of 1 April 2023.

This was the last meeting for RC members Jacques Lanares (RC member since 2019), Anita Līce (RC member since 2014 and Vice-Chair of the RC from 2017-2019) and Izabela Kwiatkowska Sujka (RC member since 2017). They were thanked for their hard work, enthusiasm and excellent collaboration.

This was also the last meeting of President Karl Dittrich before handing over the baton to Stéphane Lauwick, who started his mandate as EQAR President on 1 July. Karl was thanked for his charismatic leadership, his ability to build bridges and his overall contribution to the success of EQAR. More about Karl and his six years as EQAR President.
