EQAR for students
EQAR helps students to identify whether a certain programme, department, faculty or higher education institution has been reviewed by a legitimate quality assurance agency.
EQAR also aims at protecting students from so-called "degree mills": bogus institutions awarding degrees without a quality education programme attached to the degree. This is often done with the support of an "accreditation mill": a bogus quality assurance agency used by a degree mill to pretend quality and legitimacy of its provision. EQAR provides a list of credible quality assurance agencies that work in line with the agreed European Standards and Guidelines and helps to prevent accreditation mills from gaining credibility.
Please note: Due to the voluntary nature of EQAR quality assurance agencies are not obliged to apply for inclusion on the Register. An agency that is not included on the Register is therefore not necessarily illegitimate or an accreditation mill. Thus also a study programme or higher education institution that has not been reviewed by a quality assurance agency listed on the Register can yet be of decent quality.
