European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education

EQAR for higher education institutions

EQAR allows higher education institutions to identify a quality assurance agency that suits the institution's profile and its individual needs.

The Register of quality assurance agencies gathers different kinds of agencies: agencies that provide evaluation, accreditation or both; national and international agencies; agencies that organise reviews at programme, faculty, departmental or institutional level.

EQAR assists higher education institutions by making this diversity more transparent and providing a searchable database of quality assurance agencies that have proven to comply substantially with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance.

Important:

  • Depending on your national legislation, the quality assurance decisions of an agency chosen from the Register might have different formal impacts. Due to the voluntary nature of EQAR there is no obligation for any Bologna signatory state to recognise the quality assurance decisions made by a quality assurance agency listed on EQAR.
  • Some countries in the EHEA are using EQAR as a reference for national legislation in order to recognise external quality assurance agencies and their results. Click here for an overview of these examples.
