EQAR Association
The EQAR Association, an international non-profit association under Belgian law (aisbl / ivzw), has been founded by the E4 organisations to indepently operate the Register of quality assurance agencies.
Members of the association are the four founders, ENQA, ESU, EUA and EURASHE, as well as the social partner organisations represented in the Bologna Follow-Up Group (BFUG) and European governments that have decided to support the operation of EQAR and get involved in its governance. The diverse membership of the EQAR Association is reflected in different rights and responsibilities of the different categories of members. [read more: Members]
EQAR's statutes are available for download [PDF].
The different bodies
The EQAR Association has been designed to allow the Register Committee, the body that decides on inclusion of quality assurance agencies on the Register, to operate smoothly and independently and to ensure certain checks and balances between the several bodies of the association. The association consists of four bodies with distinguished responsibilities:
The General Assembly gathers all members of the association. It is the supreme body of the association and has the authority, for example, to decide on the budget and to elect the Executive Board.
The Executive Board is in charge of the daily operation of EQAR, with the support of the Secretariat. It takes care of all administrative affairs and has the power to legally represent the EQAR Association.
The Register Committee deals with the core objective of EQAR: it has the power to decide on applications for inclusion on the Register. See also Application for information on applications for inclusion on the Register.
The Appeals Committee considers potential appeals against a rejection of an application for inclusion on the Register.
